Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco, a Canadian-American singer and songwriter. She has released more than 20 albums. DiFranco's music has been classified as folk and alternative rock, but it also has influences of hip-hop and jazz. A feminist icon widely recognized as Grammy award winner Ani DiFranco has been referred to as the "mother" of the DIY movement. She was one of the pioneers of artists who started her own label 1990. DiFranco was born on the 23rd of September 1970 in the city of Buffalo in New York. She is the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross), who met Dante Americo DiFranco while studying at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her mother hails from Montreal and her father is from Italian roots. Ani diFranco wrote and sang the song 32 Flavors. The song debuted on DiFranco's 1995 sixth studio album Not a Pretty Girl. The song was featured in the soundtrack to the Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate, released in 1999. DiFranco acknowledged her apology in 2013, when the news broke she was hosting the three-day event on the site of a Louisiana former plantation for slaves. She cancelled it but many (including this paper) didn't detect remorse. DiFranco issued a new apology within a few days of her first apology. The singer is well-known for her Little Folksinger songs, however she has worked with a variety of artists and styles including Pete Seeger to Chuck D. She lives in New Orleans. DiFranco has graduated from her Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts high school at sixteen and enrolled at Buffalo State College.
